From The Bishop April 28, 2017
Beloved, Good Friday morning,
I pray that this letter finds you well and that you have had a blessed and productive week. As you know since last Wednesday we have been in the celebration of the 37th Pastoral Anniversary and on this Sunday, we will conclude the celebration of our pastor in the 10 A.M. morning worship service. I want to encourage all of you to come out and be with us for what I am sure will be a wonderful time of worship and celebration. Pastor Joseph Sykes will be speaking in that service.
The luncheon for Lady Marva Scott has been rescheduled for next Saturday, May 6, 2017 @ 11:30 a.m. Please mark your calendar and listen up for more information. Allow me again because quite often on Sunday I do not have the time to do so, to say THANK YOU to Mike and Becky Stevens for their leadership of this celebration and to the entire Pastor’s Appreciation committee leadership as well. So many of you shared, served and sacrificed to make this time meaningful for me and the first family and from the bottom of my heart I am grateful.
Please be in prayer for the Sledge family and Sister Rowena Johnson in the transitioned of their family members. Sister Johnson brother and grandmother funeral service will be Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th in Maryland. Sister Shirley Sledge celebration service will be tomorrow Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the church. Her viewing is today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. The family visitation hour is from 6 – 7 P.M. today at Wilson Funeral Chapel. Please keep these two members in prayer during this very difficult time.
In preparation for the Word on Sunday please come praying for an anointed worship experience. Pray for Pastor Joseph Sykes as he proclaims the word to us and that God will have His way in our service on Sunday. Please join me in praying for Mother Gladys Whaley, and Denna Peace in the Hospital. Please continue to pray for Leigh-Ann Reid, Amber Whaley, Mildred Cosby, Dorothy Walker and Margaret Brookins. Pray for all our seniors and for one another. In closing know that I love you and pray for you and that I am glad to be your pastor
